School Improvement
Two schools, Leake Central Elementary (Year 2) and Leake County High School (Year 2), have been identified for improvement based on requirements set forth by No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The statue requires states to set incremental progress on reading, language arts, and mathematics. The incremental progress is defined as adequate yearly progress (AYP) toward ensuring that all students meet proficiency standards of achievement by 2014. AYP is measured by the MIssissippi Curriculum Tests (MCT 2) in grades 3-8 and the State Assessment Test Program (SATP 2) in the high school subjects of English, U.S. History, Biology, and Algebra I.
